Writing your Custom Wedding Vows
Now that you’ve received or given the diamond engagement ring and the Wedding date has been set, it’s time to think about what you want to say. Wedding vows are the heart of your marriage and should lay out both your reasons for choosing to spend your life with this person and your expectations and commitment to making this relationship the most important one in your life time.
Public Speaking is the number one fear quoted by most adults, even above the fear of Death, so it’s understandable if you are nervous about saying your Wedding vows. Here are a few tips to help you calm the nerves and enjoy your vows.
- Focus on your partner, forget the quests
- Mean what you say, don’t just try to memorize some script
- Keep it short, a few sincere words will mean more than a long rehearsed monologue.
Use the following format to help you come up with just the right personal touch.
The WHY:
- Why did you choose this person?
- What are the things you love most about them?
The Offer/Promises:
- What do you have to offer?
- What are you willing to give to make this last?
The Expectations:
- What do you expect from your life together?
- What do you expect from your partner
